Ray'larin Stormwatcher is a quite thin yet lean elf.
Her body doesn't necessarily look trained, but it can't be argued that she has a bit of muscle on her. Her face seems quite symmetrical and perfect at first glance. The things that stand out would be her marking, yes that's without an 's'. She has chosen only to get her tattoo on one side of her face, that being the right. Her left eye is completely bare and clean, no marking covering it. Her hair is smooth, cut semi short down to her shoulders. It carries a very, and that's with pressure on the word 'very', deep purple color. One would almost say it was black, and yet it has that deep purple hue to it. Her left ear carries a more dark color than the rest of her otherwise pale pink skin. Her ear looks scarred and burnt, and this discolouring spreads itself to just before the eye. Ray stands at seven feet, the average height for her kin. Her posture is quite plank-like, with no apparent curves. She doesn't seem to have much fat on her, being quite a thin elf. The only thing that would look like curves on her body would be a slight bit of muscles. She's not ripped or well-trained that's for sure, but she's not completely weak either. She usually hates wearing dresses and skirts and thus keeps to pants and a shirt. Her current casual attire consists of black somewhat tight pants, a belt made of what may look like a red scarf, and a somewhat big black and white shirt on top. Her feet are protected by some simple black shoes. Over her back you'll always see a bow and fitting quiver. She seems very attached to this type of weapon, as no matter which attire she is wearing, she always carries a bow and quiver. First glances for non-TRP users: Handmade bow and arrows: Ray's currently equipped bow would be slightly larger than average, neatly crafted. The handle would be wooden, as well as the base of the bow itself. The edges of the bow, however, would be detailed with metal plates. These metal plates bear inscriptions in Darnassian which are only readable if closely inspected. Lately the handle itself has been carved with names, yet again only readable if closely inspected. Her quiver seems hand made as well, with a base of leather and details in metal. In it would be approximately twenty-five arrows. Eighteen of them would have colored rings around them. Four would have a red ring, another four a yellow ring, three a green ring, another three a brown ring, two a blue ring, the last two carrying an orange ring. The last seven arrows would be regular arrows, no colored ring. The feathers used would appear to be from ravens. Hair: Her hair would look black at first gaze. When taking a proper look, a very dark purple hue can be spotted. Precious belongings: Around Ray's neck would be a small, round piece of metal. Upon closer inspection, it would be revealed that what looks like a family crest has been engraved in the metal. Ray'larin seems to hold this piece of metal very dear. She has even poked a hole at the top of the insignia and put a leather cord through it, to have it as a necklace. It would appear polished always, showing that she cares much about its safety and look. In Ray's belt neatly hangs a small weapon. At first glance the dagger is clearly not the work of a blacksmith, or any kind of craftsman. Its blade is steel, yet looks more like a piece of rock than anything else, crude, but surprisingly sharp and lean. From the looks of it, it can easily be used just as any other dagger. Its handle is made of wood, one of the strongest barks many bows are made of, with a dark-purplish, almost black colored cloth wrapped tightly around it - the grip. Under said wrappings is placed a small, blue feather of a Hippogryph as decoration. The decoration does not end there, as at the start of the dagger's handle; just where it connects with the blade itself is a small carving into the wood on both sides. It is less apparent than the other decorations, yet it's still there - representing a crescent moon with an owl sitting on its crescent, a symbol of the Sentinels and dedication towards the Sisterhood. Marking: Ray’larin has the 'claw' marking, however only over the right eye. The left side of her face is completely clean and unmarked. Scars: Ray's left ear would be miscoloured to the rest of her skin, particularly darker: A burn wound. This goes slightly onto her 'main' face, stopping a few centimetres from her eye. Her arms carry multiple 'puncture' and slashes on them. None of them seem to be 'connected' to each other, hinting that most of them are from different occasions. |

Ray'larin grew up in a family that, as far as was remembered, were bowyers. Every single family member could be found crafting bows at any time of the day. So obviously, Ray was forced into the same trade.
Ever since she could walk and talk, she would be shown how to use a dagger to cut wood into bows, and how to properly choose a perfect string for that specific bow you just carved.
Whenever her father wasn't looking, she would sneak out to observe the sentinels, no matter what they'd be doing. She'd hide in some nearby shadows and just observe them. This could go on for hours upon hours.
Ray grew up with two older siblings and her father. She never knew how it was to have a mother, and for her, that was normal. So she never placed any questions about her.
Ray adored her brother and sister. Her much more graceful sister, the oldest of the three and approximately 150 years older than Ray, had the same black hair as Ray, but had much darker, blue skin, which seemed to blend in with the purple hue to their hair. To top it off, her eyes shone a very light hue of blue. Ray didn't understand why this caused some of their neighbors and other traders to give her siblings almost hateful looks, until she was much older. Her sister seemed quite interested in history, but would never share which specific history she was reading. She was the only one in the family that attempted to go against their father's wishes about them all becoming bowyers, much to his annoyance.
Her brother shared the same light blue eyes as the sister, but he otherwise looked like an exact replica of their father. He were merely fifty years older than Ray, yet he acted as if he were many more centuries older. He, too, carried the same grace as their sister, though seemed much more interested in the family trade. For sure their father's favorite child.
Pale pink skin like Ray, accompanied by light purple hair makes his features look like one big mix of purple.
When Ray was around 150 years old, her sister went missing without a word. Most of the family and traders were looking for weeks upon weeks, but found no trace. It was first then that Ray became suspicious of her father, as he didn't seem as enthusiastic about the whole thing as the rest of the citizens. It was as if he had given up from the moment she went missing. Or did he know something?
Ray questioned him as soon as she could, but he would not budge. He did however succeed in assuring Ray that he had nothing to do with Ray's beloved sister's disappearance.
After her sister's disappearance, Ray slipped into her own little world. She spend more and more time by herself, snuck out more and more. Her father didn't question it. He knew the two had had a close bond. Ray had idolized her as if she was Elune.
It took Ray about fifty years to return to the carving table and help her father in the shop once again. She had grown silent, much less talkative than she had been before. And she hadn't been a big talker to begin with.
Ray started being more and more lawful to her father's words afterward. She spent less and less time watching the sentinels, and more and more time in the workshop crafting countless bows, even when there were no commissions to craft. Crafting quite a bunch of simple as well as advanced bows to be sold and kept on display. When her father told her to stop making bows since they were close to having no storage space for them, she began researching different arrow abilities.
Fifty years go by. One day, Ray returns to the house to the sound of a female voice in her father's chambers. She seems agitated and is clearly in the middle of a heated argument with their father. Ray decides to go to her own chambers and keep out the noises, not wanting to spy. Two hours goes by, and she decides to go grab a snack from the kitchen area. As she starts to leave for her room again, a woman comes almost storming towards the front door, from An'da's room.
Ray almost stumbles and stops dead in her tracks. As the woman notices her, she seems to do the same.
This woman is the prettiest elf Ray has ever seen. She looks like a much more graceful version of Ray's lost sister. But Ray does not know this woman. And she seems thousands of years older.
Her eyes are bright blue, and they now seem to inspect Ray's own eyes intensely. They remain in that position for a few seconds, merely watching each other. The lady, which Ray presumes would be a title for this woman, seeing her almost royal looking silk attire, breaks the tension. She walks forward and places a single hand on Ray's shoulder. Ray felt the cold feeling of metal against her shoulder, as if something was placed on it. Then, the lady leans in to carefully place a gentle kiss on Ray's forehead, before she departs through the door with no words spoken, leaving Ray utterly confused and surprisingly emotional. As the lady removed her hand from Ray's shoulder, a small round metal plate falls to the ground. Ray picked it up and later made this exact metal plate into a necklace. A family crest were carved into the metal. From that day off, Ray has attempted on finding a match to this family crest, but never seemed in luck.
Little did she know at the time, that this would be her only ever interaction with her mother.
The next day, Ray's brother goes missing. And once again, their father pretends to help with the search, yet Ray picks up his missing enthusiasm. She is however yet too young to put the pieces together, and once again goes to him in anger. She is for the second time met with reassurances that he has not been part in the brother's disappearance.
Ray once again retracts into herself, becoming completely silent now. For ten years, she would not speak at all. For another ninety years, she would only talk when asked a direct question. After a hundred years in silence, she would start to talk just a tiny bit more, now only responding when talked to. This would go on until she was 500 years of age. Only then would she start to talk normally again.
Once Darnassus became available for housing, the family of now two, would move to the new capital. Here, they'd set up their own little shop. Ray would continue to follow her father in his trade, whilst sneaking out when possible to observe the sentinels, as well as train herself in the use of her bows. A hobby she had picked up in her silent years after her brother's disappearance.
Ray'larin reached the age of above 900, where she chose to stop counting. Age stopped meaning anything to her.
One night, they were awoken by a knock on their door. Ray would groggily get out of her bed, only to see her father stand in the open doorway with a tiny baby in his arms. Dark, blue skin just like Ray's sister and the Lady in the house hundreds of years back.
At this point, Ray finally puts the pieces together. The Lady had to be her mother. They shared the same hair color, she looked almost identical to her lost sister, and she had clear blue eyes. Ray's older siblings had both had a blue gleam to their eyes.
That, together with how the Lady had looked, another fact had appeared to Ray:
Ray was of Highborne heritage.
This would explain why the mother never visited. The hatred for highborne had been strong ever since Ray could remember. Her mother had stayed away to secure her children's safety. Ray had, ever since the facts had started to appear in her mind, set herself the goal of trying to understand the highborne and learn their ways, but keep both her research and her heritage a secret to all and everyone. It was first then that Ray realized she had researched the wrong thing. The family crest she had been discreetly given by her supposed mother, had to be Highborne. Ray had been looking through Kaldorei archives!
Her father named the new addition, a boy, Rarieth Stormwatcher. Ray'larin swore to herself to not let him be taken away by their mother. She had put the puzzle together and realized that the reason to her mother staring so deeply into her eyes the only time she saw her, was to see if Ray had any signs of magic in her. Blue eyes meant magic. Blue eyes meant highborne. They were the reason why Ray's siblings had gotten nasty looks back in Auberdine.
Rarieth grew up to be a true sweetheart. His hair a replica of Ray's own.
Ray soon became Rarieth's caretaker, watching his every move. The boy soon trailed after his older sister everywhere she went. This forced her to stop watching the sentinels, as she couldn't risk Rarieth exposing her.
Almost ten years after Rarieth's appearance, Teldrassil was set on fire, and Ray was forced to flee her home. Her brother got badly burnt in the flames, and died in Ray's arm by the harbor. Their father was reduced to a pile of ash.
Having lost every known to be alive family members, Ray felt at a complete loss. She took the corpse of her child brother to Stormwind where he was buried. She had wanted to bury the boy by Auberdine, but was practically forced on the ship to Stormwind.
In Stormwind, she kept to herself in the beginning. She did what she could to keep herself busy, not wanting herself to creep behind a shell and break down. Soon, a fellow elf became her lifeline. He kept her sane while being in Stormwind.
Eventually, Ray decided to travel back to Kalimdor, to finally pursue her dream of serving her kin as a Sentinel.
Arriving at Feathermoon, she instantly took contact to Saleysea Featherwind, Captain of the Bladecrest division. Within an evening, she was accepted as a recruit in their ranks, mostly based on her abilities and knowledge of the bow.
When this division fell apart, Ray'larin stuck to her cousin, Shyere Vyssahn, and joined the Darkwood Sentinels. This didn't last long either, and the unit was put as reserve, sending most of its members to other units. Ray'larin stuck to her by-then mate Aena Autumnwolf, who traveled with her to Winterspring to finally be reunited with Ray'larin's siblings and mother, discovering that she had a twin sister and a deceased older brother, twin to Kaeleas. She stayed with them for a few days, before returning to Ashenvale. Here, Aena broke up with her, saying it all had gone too fast.
Ray'larin travelled back to Feralas to join the Nightblade sentinel unit, which Shyere had also chosen to do. They both became official recruits at the same time.
However soon after, Ray'larin bumped into an old childhood friend and fling, and soon after discovered she were pregnant. This led to her dismissal in the unit, as they could not take responsibility if anything happened to the child.
This is where she is now, without a unit. She's traveled back to Winterspring with her mate Andriath, to stay by her family whilst taking care of herself and her unborn child.
Family and friends
Shyere Vyssahn
Ray's cousin. One of the only people Ray feels she can talk freely to, even if their relationship isn't very developed yet. Shy seems to stand up for Ray when needed, as she spoke highly of her to the Commander of the Nightblades when Ray showed interest in joining.
Ray loves Shy highly, and would do anything to assure her safety, despite being much much younger than the 10k+ old elf.
